Warning: This post contains mild spoilers from episode one of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law from Disney+, proceed with reading at your own risk.

Alright, so first things first… I am a HUGE fan of She-Hulk. As a result, if I come off sounding a bit biased… I cannot help it! She-Hulk is a nickname I have acquired over time because alas, bi-polar and depression disorders run in my family and when I am not on my meds well… um yeah (use your imagination). So being able to relate to her as a strong female in the Marvel universe has always been something I have adored. I have done my best to avoid any and all spoilers about the show and only watched the trailer a couple of times. However, I finally got to get a look at the show myself on Thursday evening with a couple of friends.

I will be honest, from the trailer alone I did not anticipate being in love with the show. I wasn’t even sure that I would like it at all. Yet as the minutes rolled by, I found myself screaming “yasss girl!!” and throwing fist pumps into the air.

I love the banter between Bruce and Jen during their training a lot, it was very realistic. It felt like I was watching the Hulk versions of my brother and myself to be honest and was quite funny to watch. I truly believe the show has a lot of promise but one can never be certain from just one episode so we will have to wait and see.

There is one thing early in the episode that bothered me a bit. In the comics when she became She-Hulk, it was due to an actual blood transfusion and not just a droplet going into a cut on her arm. It felt a bit lazy to me that they decided to go this route when they easily could have done that part the right way. I mean, they were in a car accident so I feel as though they could have made the wreck worse to the point that she would actually need to go to the hospital (or whatever top secret medical facility Bruce has access to) and just gave her a proper transfusion as per the comics. It would not have added much time to the show, but perhaps the time it would have added to production was not worth it to them. I just find it hard to wrap my head around how a single drop of blood can cause a mutation like that. I am probably just being a little nitpicky because it doesn’t seem to disrupt the story line as a whole.

All in all, I am definitely looking forward to seeing how it progresses and if it keeps the same pace and level of humor as this initial episode. Also, whether you have watched the episode yet or not I would highly recommend sticking around for the after-credit scene. I found it to be very laughable 😉
