    It’s Been Too Long.

Wow, so my last update on this blog was around a year and a half ago. I’m not gonna beat myself up about it because life happens… but I wish I would have made more of an effort. Running a site like this or even a YouTube channel can be a lot of work, especially with the goals and aspirations that I have for it and myself. It’s like a job where you give maximum effort for little to no pay. That said, I still wanted to make it work even if it could only be a part-time thing and I still do. I’ve invested a lot lately, particularly into my YouTube channel and I intend to do the same this summer for this website as well. A couple of months ago I bought a new HD video camera, some lighting equipment, and another mic. I even have better video editing software now; so the only thing holding me back is myself. I have a lot of friends in my corner pushing me to well… push myself, which is exactly what I need at the moment. I’m not going to set a schedule for how often I’ll update because that puts unnecessary stress and strain on me and only leaves my followers disappointed. However, I do promise to make more of an effort with all things extravagantGEEK going forward and I certainly have the resources I need now (including more time) so there is no excuse.

  • November Update.

    November Update.

Hey guys, so if you look back over the site and/or have seen my most recent YouTube video… you may be aware that I started a new job last month. A huge part of the reason why I was posting so frequently on here last month prior to starting the job was because I had a feeling I wouldn’t be able to dedicate as much time to the site once I was working again. I hate to admit it but I was right in feeling that way and almost went the entire month without making any posts on here at all. I definitely don’t want to get back into the habit of being insanely active on here and then disappearing again so I wanted to make a quick post about whats been going on with me.

First off, I’m loving my job… after not working for nearly 3 full months due to surgery recovery and moving its nice to have something to fill up my days and bring in money. I’ve also picked up a new tablet the Asus ZenPad s 8.0, and a new phone the 128GB Google Pixel… I really wanted the XL but it wouldn’t have been available to me until after Christmas and that was not going to work for me. The past couple months with that 16GB iPhone gave me the blues and I simply couldn’t wait any longer. I plan to do a review of the tablet and possibly even the phone within the next week or two. The tablet review will be a definite as I had a few people request it. I apologize for the delay in getting around to that but I seriously haven’t had the time.

I’ve got a little more work to do around the house today and I’m feeling a bit drowsy so I guess I go ahead and wrap it up here. As always, I want to let my readers know that I appreciate you sticking in there with me. I’ll be around, promise.

  • Pixel Goodness.

    Pixel Goodness.

Nearly two weeks ago Google hosted a Made by Google event which was streamed live over YouTube. Like many others I sat in anticipation on October 4th to hear about all the new things that were to come. They covered a variety of products from the new 4K Chromecast to the Daydream View (their VR headset with a remote control). However, the main thing I was concerned with was their new line of phones… the Pixel and Pixel XL.

For years I drooled over many of the Nexus devices and finally got on board in 2014 with the Nexus 6. I genuinely loved that phone and had only one major gripe relating to the size; my dainty hands struggled to hold it ( particularly with one hand) which led to me ultimately gifting it to my dad last Christmas. I could have gotten a 5X but decided to branch out and try my very first iPhone instead. One thing I can say about the Nexus experience though is that I absolutely loved getting software updates as soon as they were released or using developer previews until they were. That feeling of always being up to date is what made me never want another Android device unless it was a Nexus or straight from Google. Its also the reason that I felt like I was finally ready to give the iPhone a chance because I adore getting updates; even now I’m in Apple’s beta program.
